Proteus
Proteus, son of the ancient Greek sea god Poseidon and a sea god himself, is a clairvoyant shape-shifter who refuses to make his gift available to humans. Cunning and deception must be used to make him reveal the future to a human, which happens to him regularly. Thus, although he is a self-sufficient, strong character, he is always persecuted. He is a symbol of how important it is to recognise and accept one's own talents and to treat them with respect and attention. Not following what is within us, what defines us, leads irrevocably to suffering - a contemporary symptom of our society.

Proteus, Sohn des altgriechischen Seegottes Poseidon und ein Seegott höchstselbst, ist ein hellsichtiger Formenwandler, der sich weigert, den Menschen seine Gabe zur Verfügung zu stellen. List und Verstellung muß angewandt werden, damit er einem Mensch seine Zukunft verrät, was ihm regelmäßig widerfährt. So wird er, obwohl er ein autarker, starker Charakter ist, zum stets Verfolgten. Er ist ein Symbol dafür, wie wichtig es ist, die eigenen Talente zu erkennen und zu akzeptieren, und ihnen mit Respekt und Aufmerksamkeit zu begegnen. Nicht dem zu folgen, was in uns ist, was uns ausmacht, führt unwiderruflich zu Leid - ein zeitgenössisches Symptom unserer Gesellschaft.
